Mid-April Events: Garage Sales, Park Trails… and more

Mid-April Events: Garage Sales, Park Trails… and more

Dear Finn Hill friends and neighbors:

Spring has finally arrived! Here a few activities coming up that we hope you’ll participate in:

April 22 (Tuesday): Election Day

Don’t forget to vote! The Lake Washington School District bond measure is on the ballot, as well as a County-wide referendum on car tab fees to support to Metro. (Just in case you haven’t already seen the signs for and against these measures all over the neighborhood.)

April 23 (Wednesday): Friends of Big Finn Hill Park – Inaugural Meeting

King County has now issued its long-awaited trails plan for the western side of Big Finn Hill Park. It is also forming the Friends of Big Finn Hill Park to oversee the implementation of the plan. The County envisions that about 10-12 citizen volunteers will form the core of the Friends group. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to attend a meeting with King County Parks representatives on Wednesday, April 23, from 7-9 p.m. at Finn Hill Middle School, 8040 NE 132nd St. in Kirkland. The newly formed group will meet monthly for first few months, then quarterly.   Those meetings will be open to the public.

More information is available by contacting Mike Crandell, King County Parks District Maintenance Coordinator, at 206-618-5619 or mike.crandell@kingcounty.gov. You can also learn more on the Big Finn Hill Park website.

April 26 (Saturday): Fabulous Finn Hill Garage Sale Extravaganza!!

It’s our second annual garage sale Extravaganza on April 26 from 9am -4pm. It’s fun, it’s free and it’s fabulous. We’ve lined up several garage sellers already and we’d like you to join in! You will get signs, publicity and a chance to meet some of your neighbors. So let’s bring our community together, clean out the clutter… and get some cash for your stash at the same time. What could be better? Hosted by the FHNA. Details on the Garage Sale page.

Check out our interactive map for current garage sale locations and a listing of what’s being sold.

April 26 (Saturday): City of Kirkland’s Community Future Day

Yes, Saturday the 26th is a double-header. After you’ve found that lava lamp you’ve always wanted at one of the Finn Hill garage sales (or you have gotten rid of it, at last, if you were selling from your garage), head over to Kirkland City Hall and catch up on the plans for the Kirkland’s future: the comprehensive plan, the Cross Kirkland Corridor, the transportation plan, the parks plan, etc. The event will run between 10am and 2pm.

  1. Jeanette Leach says:

The Big Finn Trails Plan is for the entire park (both east and west of Juanita drive), not just the western side of Big Finn Hill park.

Everyone with interest in trails in Big Finn should plan to attend the kick of meeting of the Friends of Big Finn Trails.
