Finn Hill neighbors and friends:

Here are a few items that you may want to calendar for the end of May and June:

  • Wednesday, May 28: Finn Hill History in Photographs – The FHNA History Project and the Kirkland Historical Society are sponsoring a Power Point presentation of more than 130 pictures of Finn Hill from the late 19th century through mid-20th century. The presentation – entitled “First Families of Juanita” – has been prepared by Christina Brugman and shows Juanita Beach before development, tulip fields on the Albertson’s site, original Finn Hill homesteads and logging operations, and more. Christina will present the photos at Heritage Hall in downtown Kirkland for one night only, so don’t miss it. Please RSVP and get event details (exhibit time, etc) by contacting Barbara Radford: baradford@comcast.net or 425-820-2413.
  • Tuesday, June 10: City of Kirkland meeting with Finn Hill residents to review Finn Hill neighborhood plan recommendations. The City of Kirkland is hosting a meeting with to revisit recommendations that Finn Hill residents provided at a workshop held earlier in the year. This is your opportunity to help the city prioritize planning and zoning goals for Finn Hill as part of Kirkland’s comprehensive plan update. Look for details in the mail and in subsequent emails.
  • Wednesday, June 25: FHNA general meeting.  Save the date for our general meeting which will focus on surface water management – aka mudslides and erosion on Finn Hill. We’ll have presentations from a geologist and a consulting engineer, who will provide insights into the causes of mudslides on Finn Hill and offer some practical tips on how to identify and mitigate risk factors. Jenny Gaus from the City of Kirkland will also talk about the status of Kirkland’s new Surface Water Management Plan. As always, our general meeting is open to all and will be held in the Finn Hill Middle School Cafeteria, starting at 7pm.
