Kirkland Citizens Climate Lobby April Update

Kirkland Citizens Climate Lobby April Update

The Kirkland Chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby remains active fighting for a healthier clean energy future.

We are preparing for several outreach events centered around Earth Day (April 22). We will also be meeting with Representative Suzan DelBene in April to thank her for her efforts on the environment and public safety and ask for her support of a revenue neutral carbon fee and dividend.

The biggest news this month is the decision by Puget Sound Energy to phase out units 1 and 2 of the Colstrip Montana coal fired electricity plant by 2017. After massive public turnout at a hearing this month in Olympia on the subject the Utilities and Transportation Commission approved PSEs plan. This is a huge step toward a completely clean power grid in Washington!!

Our next chapter meeting is April 17th at 7pm. If you would like to do your part to protect our air and preserve a future of health for all of human kind contact
