Objection to relocation of soil storage bins at Big Finn Hill Park

The FHNA Board of Directors recently sent the attached letter to the King County Parks Director raising concerns about the relocation of soil storage bins at Big Finn Hill Park.

The new location interferes with King County residents’ use of the park and is environmentally inappropriate. We are requesting the County move its storage bins to their previous location or another site that is not used for public recreation, and that does not create the risk of polluting streams or wetlands.

We also request that the County restore the field to its prior condition. We are most disappointed that objections expressed by members of our Board last month went unanswered, and that our concerns about the suitability of large vehicles accessing the site due to the wetness of the ground were disregarded.

The following photos were taken on October 17th, 2016 confirming our concerns were not entirely misplaced, and that storage of soil and other maintenance supplies should not come at the expense of limited public open space within this cherished regional park.
