Blue Water Project at OO Denny Park

The Green Kirkland Partnership received funding from the Royal Bank of Canada’s Blue Water Project through the Kirkland Parks Foundation to do restoration work in the riparian forest along Denny Creek in O.O. Denny Park. The work will be happening this month. The work site is located between the stream and the northern trail, adjacent to the parking lot northeast of Holmes Point Drive.

VOLUNTEER on Saturday February 25 10 am – 2pm

The EarthCorps crew will be working in the sensitive areas closer to the stream and also in areas too steep for volunteers to work in. Then, on Saturday February 25, we will host a volunteer event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with EarthCorps. More information about the event is available on their website. The restoration work will entail removing invasive plants, mostly Himalayan blackberry and English ivy, and replanting with native vegetation.

The purpose of the project is to promote better stream quality in the stream and in Lake Washington, and to provide improved habitat for fish and wildlife.
