Future of Big Finn Hill Park Trails

If you walk or bike through Big Finn Hill Park you need to come to Wednesday’s meeting, March 12, 2014. Over the past 18 months, King County has worked with Park users to craft a plan for trails that will accommodate the needs of everyone. There was a lot of spirited debate over that plan, but a compromise was hammered out. The hard part now is implementing the plan in a way that’s faithful to that consensus. FHNA is announcing the formation of Friends of Big Finn Hill Park to act as a “meeting place” for park users to discuss plan implementation and to ensure that the voices of walkers, dog owners, joggers and cyclists are heard. We’ll work with the County to promote trail development and maintenance that all users can support. Come hear our proposals and provide your input! The Finn Hill Neighborhood Alliance is hosting a meeting for all Finn Hill residents this Wednesday, March 12, at 7pm in the Finn Hill Middle School cafeteria, 8040 132nd Street NE. Please come! The Future of Big Finn Hill Park Trails is on the agenda. Here’s a link to the trail proposal document and maps.    (scroll down when the webpage...

New Public Map Portal Queries Many Data Layers

There is a new City of Kirkland map portal.  Quoted from the site….”Kirkland Maps is a public mapping portal that allows the community to access, navigate to, and query selected data layers from the citywide GIS database and other sources. Using your computer, you can easily access the city’s property information, permitting information; zoning and land use information, utility information, topographic information, and sensitive areas information. You can also create a property report, apply for permits, pay utility bills, and print out maps.” Explore this map portal and submit interesting mapped information you have discovered about Finn Hill.  As you know the Finn Hill community is working on its Neighborhood Plan.  What you discover about Finn Hill can perhaps help with our thinking on livability, protecting our urban forests, zoning, land use, transportation and so...
